USA SWIMMING MEDIA RELATIONS CASE STUDY_

Fuse worked to gain positive exposure for USA Swimming, the governing body of swimming, to help generate participation in the sport and build the brand.

Our media strategy focused on lifestyle elements surrounding athletes, using new media tools such as blogs and podcasts to reach the youth audience and generate coverage in lifestyle, youth-focused outlets and online.

Coverage included the Associated Press, Men’s Health, SI.com, AOL.com, About.com, FamilyCorner.com, Boy’s Life and Sporting Kids’ Play.

More than 415.9 million media impressions generated between May 1, 2008 and September 1, 2008

The Make a Splash local partner program, which is the turn-key operations arm to teach kids how to swim, has increased 550% since May 1, 2008

Web traffic on the Make a Splash landing page doubled on the two days following the Associated Press story break
 > Between May 1 and May 15, makeasplash.org was the most visited page in USA Swimming’s portfolio
 > May 8 showcased the biggest spike in site history
